If any members have something that they want to use as a grayscale pattern in I-Picture, please contact me via private message, and I will give you contact info. I will be making these for a fee, and will give details based upon the amount of work involved.

Bob, given the vast number of things that you've carved and sold - I'd think that you might want to consider selling a disk with grayscale images ready to cut. Not sure how you'd control copyright, but for many of us hobbiest who will never have your computer skills - I'd probably buy it.

Rick, I had been pondering this for awhile because I know that I became somewhat bored with what images came with the machine. People that buy the machine now at least get the disc which has considerably more. I thought I would just toss it out there if anyone had something special or different they were looking for.

Bob, I just re-read this. Do the people now that buy machines get a disk different than the 500 image one that they sent around about a year ago? I bought my machine back in February 2013, and it had a disk with minimal images. Later they came out with a 500 image one, I called the factory and they sent it to me for free. I wonder if there is a newer disk with newer images, maybe I can talk them out of one if there is.

I would bet that the 500 image disc is still the same as the original 500 image one they came out with. Originally my machine had only about 100 images and the were loaded on the stick that came with the machine.

Here is a pattern for anyone to use, it is one that came on the images disc that I have modified. I removed the baseball and replaced it with a plain round ball and added the eagle in the center and USA at the top. I also placed a sharper version of the five point star in the image.

I really like this, nice job Bob. I know you said you modified that image but I do not think the original of that image came on the disk I finally got for mine. I am not even sure the disk they are giving out now has 500 images. I have still yet to perfect the art of going to grayscale on my images.

The current disk is the same one that has been out for over a year now, and is included with new machines. I agree that Bob is one of the best around at grayscale images and manipulating images to get creative outputs, I've copied some of his stuff myself. I think if everyone would contribute grayscales that they have done it would give people ideas of what can be done, and what variations of images can produce like Bob's one above. Attachments:

I was actually thinking of doing a video tutorial that would be GIMP based. I have been looking around the web for a program (free) that can do a screen video and audio capture, any suggestions for programs appreciated as there are many out there.

Here is a first try at a video, not a polished piece but it works. I was cut short by the 10 minute limitation on this one ( free edition has a 10 min. limit ) so below I will detail the finishing steps:
I just continue to go around the edges of the hummingbird with the blur tool, then double check under the layers tab to make sure that the alpha channel is removed. Then go to the image tab, under mode and make sure it is set to grayscale then under file you can choose to overwrite the file, if you did the last part of the hummingbird after you had saved. Hope this makes some sense.

There is a plug-in / filter for GIMP called "G'Mic" that is very useful. I use it mainly to make frames around projects. If you look on net net you can find it and download, for some reason mine would not install all by itself to the correct directory in the program, so I also had to look around and find instructions for manual install. I will make a video of some of the uses later today.
