Looking at that error code again gave me an idea, locate that log file and change the attributes for the files from read only to nothing.

Here is a tip, if you are using GIMP you can take your grayscale and convert it to an RGB image in GIMP, Go to filters/distort /emboss , click ok and you will get a decent preview of what the image will carve like, a better look than I-Picture preview and a lot quicker. Probably do the same in Photoshop as well.
You would also need to change your image back to grayscale, if not ipicture might give you the error "incorrect chunk length". It is also possible to get this error if you do not remove transparency from your image.

I'm running Windows 7, and I think I remember hearing there were some issues with Windows 8 and ipicture. My original instructions that came with the machine had these instructions:
1. Insert flash drive into your computer 2. Do not attempt to install ipicture directly from the USB flash drive. Copy and paste the file onto your computer desktop and start the installation from there. 3. Confirm that you have administrator privileges before attempting to install the ipicture software.
It's been a couple years now, but I don't remember having any real problems in the installation process other than it was not as easy as the Oliver youtube installation showed it to be. Does take some understading that you don't open the .exe file but the other ipicture

I'd recommend calling Oliver Machinery and letting them help you out. Remember they are on Pacific time so adjust your call to after 8 AM their time. I'd love to help, but I'm about as useless on computer questions as a person can be.
