I really wish I could use the version of I-picture thats made for the 15 carver.
The version that comes with the 13 carver is barley visible unless you zoom in real close.

Actually, it is the same version of i-Picture for both the 1013 and the 1015PRO. If you're Z depth is not very great then the preview will not have much definition.
As well, you can swivel the preview picture with the mouse to get an offset view. This should help you see the definitions more pronounced.

If you Google I-Picture you will find a version at a competitors CNC site. The competition claims that their machine and the Olivers are the same. They have a version for the 15 and the same one Oliver uses for the 13, I-Picture2. The version for the 15 looks more complex and detailed.

Yeah I know, I installed that other version but you can't use it on the 13 it uses something that looks like machine code instead of gee code but the image is much better.
If you increase the Z setting like Oliverman says above then you can get a good look at your file but you cant cut all your files at that setting so I go back and lower the setting after viewing.

You know you can open .gee files in notepad. I wonder if you can open the other I-Picture in notepad as well, then simply rename it as .gee code. I think I read somewhere that Artcam can convert to.gee code. There was some convoluted thing about ppp files(can't recall the exact terminology because I just skimmed it) needing to be copied to another directory for correct output. Artcam has a trial version or maybe a low level entry version to experiment with. I read that companies like Artcam and various CAD software creators offer introductory ware because if you train on it you become familiar with it and tend to purchase that specific variety. Something to consider.

The output gee code file for I-picture 1.2 will open in notepad but it looks like machine code and cannot be tampered with, not by me anyway. I use Cut2D and PhotoVcarve and the post processor files are on this site as a zip file but thats only for using in purchased software to make the code compatible with this machine. You still need to open the code file and run it through I-picture to get gee code.

The competitors version 1.1 for the 15" machine is for the first generation machines and is not compatible with the newer versions.

I have just inherited an I-carver cnc and can use I-picture… Is there free CAD/CAM software that creates compatible Nc or gee files that is free (or under $200? I can’t afford the big name software:-(
