I have been looking for other objects more scenery or wildlife related for detailed carving in the black and white bitmap files and am having a hard time locating any. I was hoping someone would have a link or suggestion.
Also, would most other CAM programs (that convert to Gcode) be able to work with this machine or does anyone have a suggestion on which one to use so I dont sink a handful of time and money in trial and error.
Thanks

PhotoShop has released the Cs2 version for free download, some sites list the serial numbers others don't.

try cnc4free.org but you'll have to make most of the pictures you want.

Hi Trev85, In about the first week in March we will have a CD available for free which will contain about 500 grey scale images. Give us a call around that time and we'll send you one. In the meantime there is a company on-line that sells these images. They are GANTRYCO dot com.

$125 dollars a picture! Nice work but after about a month of self teaching you can do this yourself. I really would like a copy of that disc if I could get one. Greg

Thanks Google can find image files. Many are free. Most digital cameras have a black and white mode, just take your own. I have noticed attempting to translate some files to a good cut is very hard with any fine lines. It may work better on acrylic or corian as the lighting might bring out more details that wood does. I think Artcam and Vcarve have a free or trial version.

The pictures they are after are not just back and white photo's they are round gradients placed inside a selected outline of your picture. It works best or fastest with stuff that has an outline like clipart but with practice you can learn to do it with regular pictures like the pro Saints helmet I did for my brother.
What you are after is the fade to black around the edges so your carving will have a gradual edge instead of the hard edge you get from a plain pic.
The best search term to find this stuff on google is "depth map"

Don't know. Today I cut a cool first three Doctors black and white found on the net. I noticed the supplied images looked like X-ray files. Anyway I think if you run enough filters and tweaks on any image file it will work. The whole idea of is to be able to cut any b&w photo in wood, acrylic or corian. I think Oliver advertised that way, or maybe I read it somewhere. Isn't that the point of making Lithophanes? Really isn't I-Picture merely designed to make this virtually idiot proof for the general public? Like the most recent 3d printers. So newbie grandparents can immortalize their families and pets in wood or plastic.
I found this at the Oliver site on the 15 "capable of working with wood, plastic, ceramic, acrylic, corian, avonite, plexi-glass or other comparable materials". Can the thirteen cut the same materials, like ceramic? Wouldn't that get too hot? If ceramic why not concrete?
I wondered about cutting say plaster of paris or maybe spackle. A lot simpler to pour a flat piece of either then mill your sculpture than go through the whole molding process.

I found these searching around on the web. I assume that these could be used with ipicture so am posting them in the hopes someone finds them useful. ".....over 900 cut ready vector images absolutely free....." clipartandfonts.com/CNC.html

Nice. I see from the background you have a Prepper homestead. So, how long will the generator run the carver?

LOL, when you live in the country you have to be a prepper. I think what you are looking at is not a generator but a box of baby chicks LOL although I do have a genset that will power the whole farm its a 20kw diesel with a 300 gal fuel tank, this is the hurricane belt.

Greg, Thanks for the info. I received my 1013 today & got it set up. I am testing it out on the Squirrel image that they provide. I reduced the length which automatically reduced the width proportionality and I believe it did the same with the depth. It is carving as I type this and on normal speed, looks very clean, just not as deep as I would have wanted it.
I had heard of Raster images, but really didn't know what they were. So much to learn. Thanks for the download. They all have the website address in the pictures, does that come out on the carving? I tried to go to the website, but it came up in Chinese & I wasn't able to translate it to English.
You weren't able to get my link to work? I tried it again and even from my post was able to get it to work.
Thanks again,
