I believe you must have matched firmware and HMI. If you only applied the 2.002FH firmware, then your HMI will not match if you are trying to update from a v1.xxx firmware.
There is no jumper on the board to remove when you are updating the HMI. You must actually short pins 3 and 4 (as shown in the HMI update picture) together with a piece of wire when you are powering up the machine. After the machine has powered up, remove the shorting wire and wait until the unit pulls in the updated HMI file from the USB stick. After completing, it will show the normal welcome message.

It looks like HMI first then firmware.
Interesting on the lack of jumper, the picture and .ppt file show an arrow pointing to where the jumper should be removed. There is even a shot of the jumper itself.
Kind of strange they made it so complicated to update.
Mine has HMI 1.06, and I believe that prior to screwing around my firmware was also 1.06. I had to throw on 1.04, dld from Oliver, to unbrick.
Neither HMI nor firmware are listed near the serial.
And the sticker on the back says I-Carver13. Manufacture date was 10/12.
I tried both 2x firmware and had the same error for both. How did anyone else upgrade firmware without having the HMI issue?
I'm tempted to try the I-Carver firmware for compatibility.
Also, there seem to be two different versions of I-Picture 1.2. Ours has a different .ini

If you convert the same file with the same settings the Oliver will be larger by 3 bits, kb, lines of code, whatever.
I didn't take the time to compare all the lines of code between the two to ferret out the difference.

Just learned there are newer circuit boards, those with the 2x firmware.
Previous ones can not be updated to 2x.
