i know asking about another product is not a good idea but you guys are cool here so here it go's.... i'm trying to deside between 2 machines while fixing and keeping the 1013. the 2015 looks like a great machine for the money and its really easy to use, but its limited.. for just a few more bucks i can get the shark HD4 with 24X36 table and with a laser for wood/acrylic but you need to know vcarve or other software which i'm learning right now that really opens your world to carving! my 1013 is messing up so Steve @ inconic said he can send me a m-board for the 1013 if i order the 2015 @ a discount... and also iconic is great support there. so really it comes down to the iconic or the shark w/laser ? what would you do ? thanks

I also looked at the shark about a year or two ago, I 'm not sure why exactly I stopped looking at it but I know that I was concerned about getting the results that I wanted from it for the money. It did offer better options, but I think I did a review search and got terrible results.
I'd probably go with the 2015 for myself because I don't want to learn new software, but as long as my 1013 keeps plugging along there is no need to spend the money, even with the $1k off they are offering right now. My needs have evolved away from plaques and placards to more decorating furniture that I'm making, so the capabilities of the 1013/2015 are fine for me.

i hear yeah... i like my 1013 to but its so dang slow. boy i really like the idea of the laser for acrylic! just don't know how good the laser is though, i have looked but its hard to find feedback on it. so now i'm kinda thinking that i will get the 2015 and also buy vcarve pro for my big carver... now that i've been messing with vcarve its kinda fun, a REAL PITA @ first but i think it would be great on the big one.. as for a laser i found a cheap one the K40 that looks ok for a few bucks to play with so i'm just thinking. by the way your sign i see is a beauty..nice and professional looking, what did you use for that ?

Harlow italic was the font, and it's on red oak. Which for a couple of years was the only wood I worked with since I was buying at Menards mostly. Now I've found a lumber yard that deals with better woods, as long as you can use a planer to smooth out the rough cut wood. 11" wide walnut 8 feet long and 4/4 width for $62 is well worth the longer drive to this lumber yard. The frame was just some border piece I picked up somewhere, I cut the outside of the border with a scroll saw. A scroll saw can be a great way to enhance whatever your carving. I used the stain and sand method of finishing to make the letters stand out a little better.
