You might try this:
Make sure the machine is turned OFF, slowly push the table all the way past the limit switch on one end and then do the same for the other direction. Then move the table to the middle of the machine. Turn on the machine and see if it can return to the Home position properly. If not repeat the same procedure, Machine OFF, manually move table back and forth, then turn power on . This method has worked for me a couple of times.

First - Open your image and go to the "layers" tab, scroll down to transparency and then choose add an alpha channel. Next - You can go to the "tools" tab and scroll down and choose selection tools and choose "free select" Next _ Use the free select tool and select around little by little one click at a time.( It works better if you select small areas at a time and work your way around the object you want to cut out ) By selecting in small "bites" if you make a mistake you can use the key board backspace button to undo the portion(s) that were not quite right. This method works much better than trying to do it by drawing the selection line with your mouse. You might do well to view your image at maybe 200% while doing this work to get better detail. Next - Assuming you have made it around the part you want to cut out back to the beginning point. HERE is the important part....Your portion you want to cut out. If you just want that portion to be gone you go to the "edit" tab and scroll down to and click on "clear" and it will remove the part you selected. Next - If the portion you have selected is the part you want to save and get rid of everything else, this is what you do.... Go to the "select" tab and scroll down to "invert" and click on that. THEN go to the "edit" tab, scroll down to "clear" and click on that. Everything except what you have selected will be removed.
In GIMP whenever you select something whether it be by rectangle, circle, color or free select: The selection becomes everything within the boundry of the the selection, By choosing "invert" that changes the selection to everything else instead.
If you want to fill in the background (which if it is transparent will be like a checkerboard) Go to the "tools" tab and choose selection tools and scroll down to "select by color" then click on the transparent background and it will become the selection. Go to the edit tab and scroll down to "fill with background color" OR "fill with foreground color" ...click on your choice.

When you add an alpha channel to create transparency, nothing will "happen" that you will visually see until you remove either the object selected or the background around it.
Easy way to demo that is to open GIMP and under the "file" tab, choose to open "new" which will open a new blank image that will likely be with a white background.
Go to the "layers" tab, down to transparency, add an alpha channel. Go to the "tools" tab and choose selection tools, and down to "select by color" .
Click on the white background to select it, then go to the "edit" tab and down to clear. When to click on clear it should remove the white background and what you will have left will be completely transparent image with the checkerboard looking pattern.
That demonstrates that when you add an alpha channel there is no visual change to your image that you can see until you clear out the selection(s).
