Code 21 indicates a problem with the incoming electricity. I'm guessing that because it was so cold, something on your circuit was drawing extra power from your circuit and causing the 1013 to throw a error code. This machine is somewhat sensitive, so having a "clean" electrical circuit helps avoid problems. I know I can run my dust collector, a light, and a Shopvac off my circuit with the 1013 with no problem. If I add anything more, I - sometimes - get the same 21.

I keep three flash drives that I've tested with the machine available, rotating them so I can put the next project on one while the current one is carving. Note, last winter during excessive cold I managed to break off the little positioning plastic piece inside the usb port.....that cost me a new $375 motherboard. Be careful in the cold when taking them in/out.

Ran your problem, Rod, past the factory engineers and they came back with approximately the same solution that you did - that it probably was caused by a bad flash drive. Congrats on figuring it out.
