I've had some luck doing small cut through pieces using 1/4" thick oak. At the stores around here, it's only available in 8" (nominal) wide boards so I'm going to glue a couple boards together to give me the wider size.
Question: when you glue boards together, especially this thin, should you vary the grain patterns so one board "grains up" and the other "grains down"? I've only glued thicker boards up to now, which didn't have the warping problem that occurs with the thinner boards.
I'm going to try and condition the board prior to cutting by using some of the hints shown on another thread on this board, so hopefully I'll start out with a straight board.
