I am curious as to whether an image could be cut at some point so that one could get a longer carving, cut like 1/2 carve it and then the other half to get around the 18" limit of the table.

Bob, thats what I was after when posting the question about spare parts in this forum. I don't see any problem with extending the table and re locating the limit switch to the new end of the table. These machines only know what we tell them and the limit switch tells it how long the table is.
My plan is to buy another section of table along with the track under for the motor and whatever is I need to make it stable.
I have plans for guitars and I need more room to cut the necks.

Greg, that is a really cool machine I really like the idea of 3d printing. Kind of want to wait a bit for the technology to improve some more thereby making it possible for an even larger machine for same money. I have had my eye on a machine that cuts wood for segmented bowls. Basically you could make an awesome bowl 12" in diameter out of one board 12" square and up 1" thick. to do the same on a lathe would require a solid block 12" x 10" with tons of waste. www.ringmasterlathe.com/

When I did the first craft show this fall in my town there was a guy there who made these bowls/ vases and such with that machine, they really looked good.

I am going to buy one within the next month or 2. The fellow I met that made the bowls told me the first day he got it he made 8 bowls. One can get some interesting patterns by doing some glues ups on your blanks.

Bob you do know that if your using a program like cut2d or artcam where you can load up a dwg file that you can make signs and use a 45* vbit for a router and tel it to cut on the line to make a real nice sign real fast.
