Morning. I have purchased a 1013 and trying to figure out Photoshop 7 (never used it before). My graphics I completed in Photoshop are not carving well. I was wondering if their are any good sites for tutorials for Photoshop 7 for wood carving graphics?
Also what type of tool bits can I use? Manual have some metric and imperial tool bits listed. Am I limited to these tool bits?
Much appreciated the help!

It would help some if you would post some of your graphics that you made in Photoshop, so we could tell what needs to be done to them to make them carve correct for you. I am sure there are likely You Tube tutorials online, I doubt however that there are any specific to creating the kinds of imagery we use on the 1013 using I-Picture.
Remember that I-Picture converts your image on the basis of white being the highest area and black being the deepest. Most anything you carve you are going to want to blur the edges some which creates a sloped edge instead of everything being straight up and down. You can look at the images that came with the machine at 3-4 x magnification and you will see that blurred effect I mentioned.
In reference to bits there are basically 3 bits, the 1/8" end mill , the 1/32" conical and the 1/50" conical and these all have a 1/4" shank which fits your collet that came with the machine. The metric sizes are the same diameter at the carving area of the bit, however the shank of those bits is 6 mm diameter which is .236 of an inch so you need a metric 6mm collet to use those because the 1/4" (.250 ) collet will not grip them tight enough and might break the collet.

GIMP which is a free program and is similar to photoshop and I can tell you how to use that program as that is what I use. If you choose to get that program, make sure you only download it from gimp.org .... other sites you get it from try to install other things with the download.

Here's my second try at lettering, turned out satisfactory. (used Photoshop) My flower was not satisfactory, will work on that. Flowers may have turn out like that due to being 3D images and I altered the image size. what do you think Bob. Will take you up on the offer to help with GIMP program, have lots to learn. Downloaded GIMP will try it. And again thanks for your time and help Bob much appreciated!
