hi,
my grandpa has a 1013 carver.
i'd like to surprise him with a set of new router bits.
could you guys recommend a reasonably priced set of bits? they dont need to be the highest quality. a basic 4pc or so set would be nice.
thank you for the help!

That's a nice surprise for your grandpa, but notice that bits are normally close to $50 each and maybe a little more with shipping. A 1/50 and 1/32 will handle almost anything the 1013 does.

try www.toolstoday.com #46280 is a good choice. New member gets a 10% discount. I bought the 5-pack for about $200.

wow! $50 each in 1/32" and 1/50"? doubt there even USA made.
you can buy USA made 1/4" endmills from MSC for that much.
nobody offers a "weekend warrior" set of these bits at a more reasonable price?

I have not found a lot of options for bits, toolstoday.com has the 1/32 option mentioned above, but few others offer the 1/50. You can purchase them through Woodcraft, but those are shipped from Oliver so you might as well go direct. Bob had some luck buying from Canada, but he had to purchase a metric collet to go along with them and the delivery is normally a little longer since you have to deal with customs. Their prices are less though. What kills me with Woodcraft is what they charge for shipping, it's like $8 plus. Postage on something like this is less than two bucks, I don't think the envelope costs $6 so this must be a profit center too.
I haven't done a thorough internet search in a while, but if someone is importing Chinese version on the cheap I can't find them.

Max, what was the price American per bit once shipping and customs is all added in?
If you order through Oliver, request they send it via USPS. The normal shipment is through FedEx, which will cost twice as much and take twice as long as shipping it via the post office.

Try Busy Bee Tools they offer the bits in metric at less, but you would need a metric holder,
