I am looking for a way to have the software carve numbers and letters rather than making only left-right passes on the table. The cuts for these do not come out smoothly, and it seems to me this shouldn't be that difficult to set up.
I had someone tell me that the Intellicarve 1013 is only designed to do routing in this manner - back and forth along the x axis. Is this correct?

I use cut2d with the same machine and that software will cut out anything including model parts or whatever you want. Signs are real easy to make with it, it is well worth the $149 price.
While it is true they don't like this machine to use standard cnc cutting paths I use it without problem you will have to make sure you set the machine AND the software you use to go SLOWWWW, the bed speed is way to fast for a deep cut going fast in the Y direction.
while cutting out a clamp last night I found the .125 cut was really too deep and will adjut my cuts fromnow on to be around .060.

Does cut2d create a GEE file ? Do you have to put it through iPicture ? Or do you somehow convert the gcode to a GEE file ?
How exactly do you prep a file for the machine ?

IN I-picture you open the gcode file test it then convert it to gee code.

Oliver has an updated set of .pp files. In the other thread I posted the commands. Just copy each text and rename them appropriately. Or e-mail Oliver and request the new version.
